Time to go home!

After 2 nights in the hospital, I'm not sure who was ready to come home most, Mom, Syd or Declan. The first night home was a little long with sleep time at a minimum, but it sure is better than being poked and prodded in the hospital.

Syd meets Declan

After weeks of prepping Sydney for the arrival of baby Declan (whose name she basically picked out months ago from our short list, refusing to acknowledge any of our other top contenders), she finally got the chance to meet the little man. She was so excited coming right from school where she told her teacher she was going to take home her 'little brovver'. She did not disappoint when she got there as she was bouncing around the hospital room. All she wanted to do was 'hold him', so alas we gave in :)

She thought it was hilarious that Declan kept spitting out his pacifier, and was asking him why he didn't want it.

But like all good plans, we did run into a few hitches. After about 30 minutes of playing with her bro, Syd started saying she didn't feel good and wanted to go home. Thinking she was just tired, we waited....about 10 minutes too long. With her draped all over Kristi in bed (luckily Grandmother and Granddad had just arrived and picked up Declan), Syd proceeded to start projectile vomiting all over herself, Krist and the bed. It must have been a 12-hour stomach bug because until about 10PM she ended up getting sick a number of other times at home. Poor little chicken :(

She was feeling much better on Thursday morning as Grandmother came over to watch her as Dad went to pick up Declan and Mom.

Uncle Kevin was Declan's first visitor... Grandmother and Granddad came by to meet the little man and brought some Rita's for everyone!!!

Declan had a pretty low key first day...just hanging out with Mom and Dad for a while before he had some visitors. What a little peanut...

Declan Christopher decides to make an early appearance

So after all the planning, it should come as no surprise that our little bugger decided to make an early appearance over a week before his due date. Declan Christopher arrived at 22:22, bouncing in at 7 lbs 3 oz and 20". Mom and baby are doing great (albeit very tired). We can't wait for Syd to meet her little brother tomorrow....

Swim Lessons with Dad

Syd has been doing swim lessons with Daddy since the start of the year. Although she doesn't really need the lesson (nor does she participate AT ALL with the class), she absolutely loves going every week and getting to do something with just Dad. Below are a few clips of her paying zero attention to the instructor and running away from the rest of the class so she can jump uninhibited in the deep end.

Although Sydney usually takes a good nap, every once in awhile, we get to listen to her serenade us with her favorite songs from her room.
