St. Michael's Wedding

Who would have guessed that a crowd coming down from Philly would be donned in seer-suckers for a summer wedding? Well, that is exactly what happened when we went to our friend Joe Whalen's wedding in St. Michael's, Maryland. We had a great time catching up with some Preppers under the tent on the water.


Our B&B, the Hambleton Inn, was right on the water, a block from the church and reception.

Little Helper (VID/pics)

While visiting G.G. and Fred in Sobo, Syd decided to help re-alphabetize all of our movies and DVDs. Here she is working very hard.

Sydney has already started working on her muscles with Daddy's help.. she loves practicing her pull-ups! So much like Mom!!

Asheboro Zoo (Pics/Vid)

We recently made a trip out to the Asheboro Zoo. Kristi kept telling me how nice a zoo it was but I was definitely a little dismissive. It turned out to be a great zoo with lots of animals and a good walk through the park.

Syd loved watching the sea lions swim through the water...



She also liked to see the big bears lounging on the rocks.


But her favorite part of the trip was definitely the cool-mister, which was needed in the 90+ degree weather.

I love Daddy (VID)

While Sydney loves saying "Da-Da", we've been trying to teach her to say "Ma-Ma" as well. Here is one of our attempts which obviously didn't go quite as planned :)

First Steps! (VID)

Sydney took a few steps by herself on June 28 at not quite 10 months old! She still likes holding on tightly to our hands to motor around but she is getting more confident every day. She has also been standing alone more and more these past few days and trying some steps by herself. Here is a video of her moving with a little help!!





After never being able to capture any solo-walking on video, we finally got her here with some real steps on her own:

Wave Jumping (VID)

While I think most kids are terrified of the beach and the waves, Syd had no problem going right for them. She loved playing in the sand and jumping waves with mom and dad.

Beach Pool (VID)

Syd loved playing in the pool on the gazebo. For someone who doesn't typically sit still for more than 5 minutes, she played in there for well over an hour several times throughout the weekend.

Fireworks

We sat in the gazebo to watch the fireworks down on the pier.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July! We headed to Nags Head in the Outer Banks - OBX - for the weekend. The weather has been phenomenal with highs in the mid eighties and the water clean, clear and over 80 as well.

Our best investment of the week was a little kiddie pool for Syd. She has loved playing in it all weekend. Genius!


Syd has also spent some quality time on the hammock which she loved to rock back and forth on.

After a long day on the beach and in the pool, she just wanted to cuddle up on the hammock with her bottle.

Stair Climbing (Vid)

Syd has moved on to a new favorite thing to do...stair climbing. She started out the other day just looking to stand at the bottom and soon she was fearlessly climbing a few steps. Now, she's up them in less than a minute. One more thing to gate off...

Acadia National Park - Tours

The last of our pics from Maine. Here are some of the various tours we went on. The first here is Ollie's Trolley ride that took us through town, into Acadia Park and up Cadillac Mountain. We had plenty of room on the trolley which allowed Syd lots of room to play.



At Thunder Hole we got to go down to the freezing cold water.



The top of Cadillac Mountain let you look out into the harbor.


Syd would not sit still for a picture.



Yes that is a snake...Syd probably would have tried to pick it up if we let her.

We took a leisurely carriage ride through Acadia on the carriage roads made by Rockefeller. It was a little slow without getting to see too much new stuff, but Syd did like the horses.
