Next stop on the BirthDAY train

After bowling fun, Syd then requested lunch at Chick-Fil-A with GiGi and Pop Pop, but we didn't snap any pics of that. After watching an episode of Scooby Doo (new favorite show), she then asked to go see the movie Oogielove at the theater. Worst. Movie. Ever. However, Syd loved it and had a blast eating her popcorn, drinking her "smoodie", and waving her glow wand. After all that we came home and had pizza (Syd's pick) and a cupcake!

First stop on the birthDAY tour was bowling...also at Syd's request!

Sydney's actual birthday fell on Labor Day this year so we had a whole day to celebrate together. The day started out with chocolate chip birthday pancakes (per Syd's request) and opening of some presents!

We paid a visit to Jockey's Ridge to hike up the sand "mountains" Syd made it the whole way, even after taking a nose dive on her run down the sand hill.

Beach Birthday Weekend

We headed to OBX for Labor Day weekend to celebrate Syd's birthday. We had great weather and lots of fun. Perhaps the most exciting part of the weekend was Uncle Matt's new beagle puppy named Gus. He and Syd were fast friends and she was in heaven playing with her new puppy friend!

We were so lucky to have Kenley come for another week this summer. The kids loved playing with her!

Happy 4th Birthday!

Happy 4th Birthday to Sydney McKenna!

Can't believe Syd is four years old today! What can we say about our little four-year-old?? She has started to develop into such a kind, thoughtful, and sweet young lady.... with boundless amounts of energy!

Sydney continues to have tremendous amounts of energy and spends her days riding her bike, swimming, riding her scooter, climbing the monkey bars, taking walks, coloring, and playing with her friends. This is usually all in the span of one day. She rarely tires and we spend lots of time outdoors, going on adventures, and running around...all with Declan in tow.

Some of her recent favorite things are: bugs (we collect them), art (she can color in the lines these days!), swimming, make-believe play, Scooby-Doo (a recent addition), reading her e-reader, playing new computer games (on her own!!), puzzles, and just playing in general!

She is going to 5-day preschool this year and will be doing soccer and maybe dance (she is still debating this one). We are also thinking she may enjoy a gymnastics class.

Syd loves playing with her brother and they have become the best of friends. They spend most of their time together these days. She has started sleeping much better at night but still likes Mom to sleep in her bed from time to time....(aka almost every night)

She is still extremely verbal and talks all. day. long. She never stops talking. Her vocabulary amazes us and we are sometimes shocked by the things she says (in a good way of course). She rarely takes a breath (except at school, where her teachers say she rarely talks =)).
